概要
In this special anniversary episode of the Tammy Michelle Simmons Podcast, I’m celebrating three years of my EP Home the project that helped me find my lane as a non-traditional, spoken-word artist with no hook, no chorus, just heart.
I walk you through the story behind each track:
“Take All of Me” – the spicy, bedroom-vibe single that started as God telling me, “This beat is a blank canvas—do whatever you want.” From the lyric “I am your blank canvas, paint all over me” to the black-and-white video that never made it out of my camera roll, I share what really happened behind the scenes.
“She’s Over You” – an anthem for every woman who chose healing while he chose a rebound. I break down the story of a man trying to circle back to the woman he thought would always be there—and how she’s already moved on. I also shout out the radio stations around the world who picked this song up and believed in it before I ever had a promo budget.
“This Is Forever” – my first and only wedding song (so far!), written for brides walking down the aisle to the love of their life. I share why there are two versions, how I wrote it from the bride’s perspective, and why Valentine’s Day and love songs still mean so much to me.
“Thank You God” – the quiet, heartfelt thank-you that completes the EP. I talk about why I have to include a song to God on my projects and how this track became a simple, mellow way to say, “I couldn’t do any of this without You.”
I also open up about what it’s like being a different kind of artist no traditional singing, no big choruses and how your streams, support, and radio spins showed me that my voice does have a place in this world. If you’ve ever doubted your lane because you don’t fit the “normal” mold, this episode is for you.
Whether you have a Valentine or not, I remind you that you can always be your own Valentine and that you deserve the kind of love you keep trying to give away to everyone else. 💗
