概要
ब्रह्म सत्यं जगन्मिथ्या । परतत्त्वं तु एकमेव । यत् सर्वत्र सर्वदा तिष्ठति तदेव पारमार्थिकं सत्यम् । यत्र यत् नास्ति तत्र तस्य रूपस्य आरोपणम् एव उच्यते 'प्रातिभासिकं सत्यम्' इति । यत् लोके व्यवहारे सत्यतया स्वीक्रियते, तत् व्यावहारिकं सत्यम् इति कथ्यते। यः ब्रह्मज्ञानं प्राप्तवान् सः सर्वं परब्रह्ममयं पश्यति । प्रातिभासिकं, व्यावहारिकं वा सत्यम् अतिक्राम्य पारमार्थिकं सत्यं प्रति गमनम् एव ज्ञानार्थिनां लक्ष्यम् । एतत् सर्वम् अनया कथया दृष्टान्तरूपेण कश्चन साधुः शिष्यौ पाठयति ।

Brahman alone is truth; the world is illusory. The ultimate reality is one, ever-present everywhere. That which is superimposed where it does not truly exist is called apparent truth (prātibhāsika satya). That which is accepted as real in worldly dealings is called practical truth (vyāvahārika satya). One who attains knowledge of Brahman perceives everything as permeated by the Supreme. For seekers of wisdom, the goal is to transcend both apparent and practical truths and realize the absolute truth (pāramārthika satya). A saint once taught this to his disciples through a parable.
