  • How to be patient with yourself as you start your business
    2024/10/11

025: If you’re like me, it's hard to start something new and not be instantly good at it. We go-getter people want to jump in and be the best right away.

Take proofreading, for example. We want to know yesterday how to proofread, set up our rates, and get clients. And not only do we want to know how, we want to be really good at the snap of a finger.

That pressure we put on ourselves to be perfect right from the start? It’s real!

In this podcast episode, I talk about the challenges of learning something new as an adult.

We're used to knowing what we're doing and being good at it! So when we pick up a new skill, like proofreading, it feels odd to get back into the mindset of letting ourselves be new.

Instead of realizing it’s okay to be a beginner, we start beating ourselves up over the impossible expectations we put on ourselves.

If you’re feeling pressure to be perfect or frustrated because you’re not where you want to be yet, this episode is a reminder from me to you that progress takes time -- and that’s okay.

Listen in -- and be ready to give yourself all the grace you deserve.
