(The stage is now darker. The SPEAKER stands center stage, voice firm and resonant.)
SPEAKER
We need to get it right!
We need to exercise our Bill of Rights until we can get it right.
We must type on our keypads. We must inscribe it on stone until we get it right!
Because the bullet lands on our front lawns. Our public streets. Our playgrounds. It lands on house doors, school doors, church doors, the farmer's door, and the convenience store door. On subsections made of lots… subsections made of blocks… the large section made of cemetery burial plots.
One, two, three, six graves.
Therefore, we won’t be ignored! Those stray bullets blazed, and blood landed onto the innocent children’s staircases. We should never be overlooked!
For now and evermore, we won’t be standing in fear. We shall end all violence. Therefore, we stand here with a peaceful motivation of silence. In the remaining, we will harmonize within our kismet.
We are exhausted by the toxic bias of Congress's fascist debates. We are praying for tomorrow's children to endure peace for eternity, for goodness' sake!
We are hoping the bullet won't knock on heaven's door. But it is endless, hitting at innocent men's hinges. One bullet. Two bullets. Three bullets. Six bullets. At humankind, all guarded by the government's clutches.
The masters pretend to close their eyes because “Lady Justice” is pandemically blind.
And when the people formed affirmative action to cease and seize the bullet… the puppet masters played on deaf ears.
(Music swells softly. The SPEAKER’s tone becomes more personal, almost like a hymn.)
I’m a woman. I’m a man.
I’m a mother. I’m a father.
I'm a daughter. I'm a son.
I’m a sister. I’m a brother.
I’m a teacher. I’m a preacher.
I’m a victim. I'm a true survivor!
Who is trying to stay alive? I'm fighting this battle partially every day and night. Sunrise to sunset… because it is too hard to stay alive. In this world we are living… It's hard to keep alive.
The bullet.
The final decision shall stand behind the casualties of bullets, compiled to linger. The puppet masters forever guarded and paid the heavy ransom for the mighty stray bullets.
(The SPEAKER looks out, resolute.)
