We meet his rival, Jorran, arrogance and showmanship. We see the machines that power the city, and the men who power the machines and find out about the cost that comes with both. Ozone. Ash. Rain.

Kael and Jorran are sent to a logging camp in the wilds, the source of all of the cities resources and the cause of the constant war. Everyone wants more than just their share. But for the two boys it's not about that, it's about greasing the gears that keep the engine turning; mending the broken humans and machines.
