批評家のレビュー

"Win Bigly taught me how to persuade my boss to treat me with slightly less contempt." (Dilbert)

"I am deeply impressed by Scott Adams. I don’t know how anyone can write so many pages without using the word ‘doth’." (William Shakespeare)

"I recommend this book to all mammals, big and small. It once turned a mole into a cheetah. I saw it with my own eyes." (Lord Byron)

あらすじ・解説

NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER

The New York Times best seller that explains one of the most important perceptual shifts in the history of humankind

Scott Adams was one of the earliest public figures to predict Donald Trump’s election. The mainstream media regarded Trump as a lucky clown, but Adams - best known as “the guy who created Dilbert” - recognized a level of persuasion you only see once in a generation. We’re hardwired to respond to emotion, not reason, and Trump knew exactly which emotional buttons to push.

The point isn’t whether Trump was right or wrong, good or bad. Adams goes beyond politics to look at persuasion tools that can work in any setting - the same ones Adams saw in Steve Jobs when he invested in Apple decades ago. Win Bigly is a field guide for persuading others in any situation - or resisting the tactics of emotional persuasion when they’re used on you.

This revised edition features a bonus chapter that assesses just how well Adams foresaw the outcomes of Trump’s tactics with North Korea, the NFL protesters, Congress, and more.

Save your credit

I have enjoyed Scott’s acerbic wit for decades, but this book is the most venal piece of Trump worship that I have ever had the misfortune to hear. Just a notch above Fox & friends.

How do be a sycophant- narcissist in the Trump era

The book is a Scott Adams' ode to himself, his power of persuasion, and his ability to see the future . It is genuinely difficult to know he loves more, Trump or himself. His reading is monotone and unconvincing. He is repetitive. He argues circularly. He offers no evidence for his conclusions. Worst of all, he glosses over any Trump missteps as simply part of broader plan. He offers that he, as a master persuader and hypnotist, is uniquely able to see Trump's plan where most people cannot. He claims political neutrality, yet offers a decidedly slanted narrative. The audio book is found under humor and satire. There is nothing humorous or satirical about it. As a self help book, it's useless. Adams reminds you throughout that you must be in his rarefied air to understand persuasion. I am sure hard core Trump fans will love this book. I hoped for an unbiased look at how Trump used persuasion to tilt the electoral college. I was sorely disappointed. This book is all about Adams' love for himself for seeing the puppet-master genius of Trump first. He even goes so far to argue he may have influenced the election result through his blog. It's astonishing and apologetic chutzpah. Sad.

Entertaining and Informative

If you could sum up Win Bigly in three words, what would they be?

Entertaining, Informative, Funny

Who was your favorite character and why?

Donald Trump for his persuasion skills during the election

Have you listened to any of Scott Adams’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

I am always worried about the time investment when I buy a book. This book was worth every second. Scott is great writer and narrator and you will have a great time listening to this book.

Garbage.

This book is nothing but Scott Adams saying how intelligent and great he is. I actually laughed of loud when he tried to subtly brag about giving a woman multiple orgasms without touching her because of his hypnosis skills.

A cerebral experience.

I enjoyed the many times my brain was near overloaded by the many interesting ideas and perspectives. Great story full of useful information.

The best book on selfdeception you'll ever read

Scott Adams thoroughly disappoints as he walks us through a book form of his resume, glorifying all his own choices.

While boasting about his knowledge of cognitive bias, the author repeatedly fails to see his own roaring biases, as he digs himself even deeper into his convictions.

From straw man augments to straight up climate change denial, this book I great for anyone who's ever wondered why seemingly smart people say such ignorant and arrogant things.

1 star.

Couldn’t finish it

I love Scott Adams and was drawn in by the funny title. I kept waiting for the promised content, but just couldn’t out-wait the Endless declarations that he’s an expert on persuasion based on his experiences blah blah blah... And so I finally gave up on the book. I’m gonna figure out how to return it.

By a Narcissist, About a Narcissist

Scott Adam’s is probably right that he and Donald Trump are both master persuaders. If they weren’t, Trump would likely be just another unknown rich person living on family money, and Adams would be just another poor sad lonely asshole.

Almost hated to keep going

I almost stopped after the first few chapters because I agree with a lot of his theories. Not all mind you because no one person has it all.

But obviously you have to wonder how can people be so against trump and so against Clinton and vice versa. It is such a basic thing that we are simply not evolved enough to use logic and we ignore facts. Logic was not needed to survive. Emotion and pro creation are required to survive. So basic lol

But it helps understand what I see all around me and now I have to figure out how to deal with millions of realities. Who can you even talk to that isn’t going to ignore the facts and open their mind. Not many

Win Bigly

What a fun and enlightening audiobook, was so much fun to listen about Scott’s journey and shifts through the 2017 elections. This is a must listen because it debunks much of the deplorable actions and manipulative b s from the election. I’ve now become a Scott Adams fan and just bought a bunch of Dilbert books to continue exercising my laughing muscles. I also bought Robert Cialdini’s book after Scott’s very funny plug in Win Bigly, so good he plugs in two sections!!! Enjoy

Just read 'Influence' by Robert Cialdini instead

To be frank, this was pretty garbage. 9hrs of Adams meekly explaining why he supported Trump (Adams goes on many tangents about how he's actually a liberal or something. Ok sure pal. I guess he just supported Trump for shits n gigs). The rest of it is some vague and very unconvincing stuff about how when Trump said something goofy he was actually playing '4D chess'. I predicted Trump would win - I didn't write a book about it. Not too torn about listening to it though because it introduced me to the work of Robert Cialdini - whose vastly superior book on persuasion, "Influence", you would do better reading instead.

I will try to listen to the summary instead

Half an hour in this guys has been blabbing in circles about:
1 His credencials and expertises which were empty titles without specific achievements and little self-confidence, too self claimed?
2 How he was neutrual in Trumps political rivalries but everything he said so far showed his definate support
3 How Trump is really good at persuasion without any meaningful case studies

maybe it would get better but I will try the summary version instead

was great. picked up an insane amount of knowledge in the realm of persuasion, and it has helped me identify when others are using persuasion consciously

Trumpersuaion

Scott Adams brilliant breakdown of how Donald Trump won the presidency using world class persuasion tactics is not unlike a marathon episode of his YouTube channel. 'How to Win Bigly' is nice blend of New Yorker, hard sell marketing analytics combined with (at times annoying) leftist hippie San Francisco boomer "pot brownie for the soul" philosophy... it also contains some excellent writing tips.

Mind Altering Genius

Scott Adams does an amazing job of describing the alternate reality we all know to be true in the 3D view of the world. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book and highly recommend.

He Predicted Every Step of the Election!

Scott Adams predicted every major twist and turn of the election in real time during the year and a half run-up to the US presidential election. That's no fluke. This book gives a detailed insight into what he saw that nobody else did when looking at the same thing - time and time again. A highly recommended book.
