Oscar Wilde's Lord Arthur Savile's Crime was first published in 1891. Laurence Olivier plays Arthur Savile who is engaged to the lovely Sybil Merton. However, a fortune teller called Podgers predicts that he will commit a murder, a task he decides to undertake in good time for the wedding!
"Theatre Royal" is a series of radio dramas owned and restored by Heritage Media, part of the Divine Art Recordings Group. First broadcast in 1953-4, it was the only radio series in which Laurence Olivier played dramatic roles. Other leading actors included John Gielgud, Ralph Richardson, Orson Welles, Margaret Lockwood, Alec Guinness, Robet Donat and Trevor Howard.
