あらすじ・解説

Explosion of the economic relevance of data is related to: first, technological progress that has drastically reduced the costs of collecting and storing data; second, the advances in analytic techniques that have allowed for more advanced processing to extract greater value from available data. So, more value is extracted from exhausted data.

Information generated for one purpose can and should be reused for another one, which means that data moves from primary to secondary uses . data are more valuable over time.

Data’s true value is like an iceberg floating in the ocean: only a tiny part is visible, while much of it is hidden.

Innovative companies that understand this, can extract that hidden value and reap huge benefits.

Data’s worth is its unlimited potential for reuse: the option value. What really matter for the value of data is its use and not its possession.

Data science can have incredible benefits for your business. With data science and predictive analytics, in particular, you can predict useful metrics and trends for your business. Such an approach can help you improve your ability to serve your customers or otherwise compete in the market.

A clear and well put together audiobook

I'm a manager of a marketing data-analytics team in the financial sector. I have some baggage on statistics, but definitely not on the typical big data techniques. This audiobook allowed me to get a good overview of the existing techniques. Highly recommended.

Best audiobook to start with data-analysis

This audiobook has most of the aspects of data analysis covered. I checked several data analysis sites who all agreed that for basics on all topics concerning data analysis this is the audiobook to listen. I have listened to the book and I wished I had known about this audiobook before. Even the examples are very useful and recognizable. I would recommend this book to everyone who wants to get into data analysis.

Excellent Audiobook for Data Analytics

This is an excellent audiobook on Data Analytics and Knowledge Management. It suits very well as a senior undergraduate level student. It will give the students an extensive but solid understanding of this growing field and will prepare them to pursue a more advanced and mathematically oriented higher level of machine learning courses. Highly recommended!

I love the audiobook

I love the audiobook lots. it's well explained and detailed listened to the different parts in Data Analytics techniques and Machine Learning algorithms. My favorite parts of the audiobook are getting through step by step of each algorithm, how well the author explained the benefit of those algorithms; how it has been used, and how those algorithms benefit the community, company, and organization.

Simply perfect

The audio-book is easy enough to read, diagrams helps a lot to understand the flow and the problems. I would recommend this audio-book to everybody working in development, testing or architecture areas, since it reveals lots of potential problems your software might have. You don't even need a database to feel these problems and possible solutions.

I am glad to find this audio-book

I was looking for a detailed introduction to distributed data systems in terms of their function, design, capabilities, limitations-and-workarounds, and performance, and in this audio-book I found exactly what I was looking for. Note that the discussion on measurable metrics is qualitative.

Clear and easy to listend

I like the style, my comprehension has been improved over other books I've read on subjects such as riak or cassandra. Although I was familiar with the topics, after listening each chapter I felt I had a far deeper and clearer understand of every aspect of data base design from file systems to application design.

Fondation audio-book

A foundation audio-book to understanding how Web-scale distributed systems work. This audio-book should be on every computer science student's or graduate's shelf. Every chapter is accompanied with a wealth of references that open doors to further research and exploration. Adam Walker did a great job and a great service to all of us working with distributed systems. For (a hopefully to-be) next edition of the audio-book, I'd like to see even more depth for transaction isolation levels (there is info out there on the Web), consistency "levels" (also out there on the Web) and umbrella "unification" of these two areas.

Very informative

This seems to be a very knowledgeable audio-book, to be honest quite a lot of it goes over my head and makes me very afraid of distributed systems, as it sounds like you need a whole department to work on it, so not something I could easily have a go at. There is so much in this that it is worth listening a few times which I should really do, but now near the end I'm not sure I know where to start :)

Best audio-book

I have spent most of my career either as a DBA or integration specialist. This is the best audio-book by far I have read covering those subjects. His descriptions of the theoretical underpinnings of the different technologies involved is perfectly pitched. He manages to describe complex things simply which demonstrates a real mastery of the subject. His use of simple unix commands to illustrate what, for example, a database is doing again is very impressive. This promises to be a very influential for me.
