あらすじ・解説

Buri Ladki is a collection of 10 stories written by Priyanka Gupta, an acclaimed author in Hindi. It depicts different aspects and emotions of life. Each story in this book dazzles the ears, brings a smile to the lips, raises several questions, and also exposes the truth of society. The way of writing every story is also fun. 

If a story starts with a direct character description, then a story starts with questions and narration. For instance, the story ‘Abb Woh Khush Hai’ shows the fragile relationship between a daughter-in-law and her mother-in-law while the story ‘Jhiri’ tickles the mind while talking about the thrill of a new marriage. When the story ‘Buri Ladki’ questions the image and dignity of good girls in our mind, the story ‘Kuchh Awaze Marti Nahi’ takes the emotions of a dying girl on the pages as words. While ‘Jhumki’ deals with the women of high society, 'Kuchh Kisse Afsane Nahi Hote’ shows the relationships and mind-sets of mofussils. The story ‘Colour-Blind’ describes the changing relationships of the family while the story ‘What Is in the Name’ shows the changing form of religion and love.

It is a heady and enjoyable collection.
